Welcome to the Toronto Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital

The animal referral service was originally founded by Dr A. Gillick in 1974 and was relocated to our new clinic, the Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Oct 2009. We are located at 21 Rolark Drive in Scarborough. Our pet emergency clinic is staffed 24 hours a day by experienced clinicians and technicians. There is an emergency vet in the clinic available for walk-in emergencies for your dog or cat at all times day and night.  There is also a critical care specialist in our hospital 7 days per week.

 

  • Our animal emergency clinic provides onsite 24/7 Emergency care by experienced emergency vets and technicians.
  • Our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is staffed 24 hours a day and is overseen by board-certified specialists in emergency and critical care medicine 7 days per week.
  • Referral Service - Our specialists have extensive training in a wide variety of services including:
    • Surgery: Orthopedics, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, reconstructive surgery, oncology, joint replacement
    • Internal Medicine: Disease management, diagnostic and endoscopic procedures, chemotherapy, nutritional management
    • Diagnostic Imaging: Inpatient and outpatient ultrasound services and imaging consultation including onsite CT scans
    • Critical Care: diagnosis and management of any patient with life-threatening illnesses. We have a criticalist on-site accepting primary referrals 7 days per week.
    • Cardiology: diagnosis and management of both acute and chronic cardiovascular disorders as well as offering cardiovascular screening of dogs and cats for owners and breeders. 
    • Rehabilitation: Pre- and Post-operative rehab / physiotherapy, thermo & cryotherapy, low level laser therapy, electrical muscle stimulation, neurological rehabilitation, adjuct palliative care, multi-modal pain management.
